Apartment in Listed Building
The project authors designed the dark-coloured interior for a 72 sq.m. apartment in a listed building. According to Viktorija Emde , this project was an extraordinary task because the task was to represent the history in the interior of the apartment, yet in the contemporary style, making it comfortable for living, and obviously blending into the surround environment.
The main accents of the interior are rough authentic girders, massive dark structures of the kitchen and work in area come in contrast against elegant accents, fine details of furniture and lighting fixtures, smoky glass of lamps, and shiny silk materials. Authentic spaces, old elements such as walls, door arches, girders and wall painting fragments were preserved and recreated in the interior. The smoky oak floors chosen for the design replicate the colour of historical girders on the ceiling and the staircase.
